noos

The NOOS plugin provides as smooth and convenient a newsfeed management solution as possible for mobile devices. Our current implementation of the NOOS protocol is using OCMP as a supporting technology. The goal is for the user to have access to important data streams, regardless of the connectivity state at the time that the user actually wants to do the reading.

The OCMP Architecture provides a framework for managing multiple interfaces that experience periodic and unpredictable disconnectivity. This is exactly the sort of environment that cutting-edge mobile devices experience today: they contain 2 or 3 (or even more!) network interfaces, the connection state of which changes as the devices moves physically, or the wireless network environment changes.

This page contains older discussions about OCMP development, and initial thoughts on the OMCP Newsfeed plugin (originally called an RSS plugin, but since RSS is only one type of Newsfeed technology, we move away from that terminology.)
