I use PmWiki as a base for my web page. This is a great tool, that allows me to have lots of flexibility in content creation, while keeping it easy. It's also a very well-done code base, which makes it easy to make modifications of my own. Most of the time, I can achieve what I want just by using creative markup and setting some local variables!

My PmWiki Setup:

• Blog List Page
  • The overview is done using the (:pagelist:) directive, and a page list format that you can see here: [[Site/LocalTemplates]. It depends on commentboxplus, as well as a modification that I've made to commentboxplus (see below).
• Skin
  • I based my skin on the "A Bit Modern" skin that can be found on the PmWiki web page. I've modified it pretty heavily, but many basic elements come straight from that skin.
• Comment Boxes
  • I have installed the commentboxplus cookbook script. I have a commentbox item in the footer for all of my Blog pages.
  • I made a modification that allows you to quickly grab the date of the latest comment on a page.

Todo:

• A way to write summaries that are separate from the main blog content.
• A better form editor for blog posts (Title, summary, body each in different fields)
• RSS feed generation
• Tagged categories, ability to list by category.
